-Secondhand Habit
"Secondhand Habit can’t be kicked.

The band that uPlaya Blog called “living proof” of “Canada becoming a new breeding ground for up and coming indie bands,” is bringing their smartly irreverent alt-rock across the country on a tour that includes Canadian Music Week showcases, with proceeds to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Playing songs from their EP, Anaphylactic Rock, as well as fresh off the rehearsal-floor offerings from their new, harder-rock incarnation, the band is poised to gain traction with an edgier, more complex take on their distinctive sound.

The current cohesive line up, hailing from all corners of the country, consists of Jon Yellowlees - Lead Guitar, Cody Vandal - Rhythm Guitar / Vocals, Jesse Turner - Bass, and Skyler Wilson - Drums.

The music, post Anaphylactic Rock release, draws on influences such as Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains, and Kyuss. It induces a kind of hazily recollected nostalgic mood, within its driving melodic rock, which evokes both the twisted personal narratives of life and the fun of a large unruly crowd. Lose yourself in the sound a few times, and eventually, you will just want to learn the words."

-Doja
"Doja had its start in 2004 when two friends, Ricky Lawrie and Brad Desjardins, asked fellow classmate Steve Kalkman to form a band with no intent other than to have fun and play music. The band continued all the way through their grade schooling in Abbotsford, BC; going through a few lineup changes and never actually having a proper band name. Throughout this period, the friends never played a single show but continued playing music for the sole purpose of creating art and enjoying the process of producing it.

After graduating in 2009, the trio were forced to separate as bassist Steve Kalkman left to pursue education at the University of Victoria and singer/guitarist Ricky Lawrie attended Capernwray in Moss Vale, Australia. They managed to keep in contact though, with the occasional jam every time they were in the same city. It wasn't until 2012 when a former classmate offered Doja recording time at the audio engineering school he was attending that the trio reunited and finally chose to label themselves as Doja. The product was an EP, which will be released late spring 2012, as well as the rebirth of the trio of Ricky, Steve, and Brad."

- Travel Light
"Travel Light is Canadian indie rock band formed in Victoria B.C. consisting of Oscar kempe (guitar, keyboard, vocals), Noah Monckton (bass, guitar, vocals), Jack Pasay (percussion), Andrew Greenwood (tenor saxophone), Matt Bawtinheimer (trumpet, bass). Upon formation in September 2014 the group has been gigging consistently around Victoria's bar and club scene. Repetoire includes original songs written by Monckton and Kempe. Their sound is based on tight grooves flowing melodies and good times."
