It was an amalgamation of the senior sections of Adamstown A.C. and New Ross A.C. In the mid 1980's the senior sections of Utd Striders A.C., Duncannon A.C. and Shelburne A.C. formed SDS A.C. with the name Utd Striders A.C. surviving as a juvenile club for the New Ross district. In the late 90's the name became synonymous again with the juvenile and senior athletics club for the New Ross district.
