Drum and Bass is a genre and branch of electronic music which emerged from rave and oldschool jungle scenes in England during the early 1990s. The style is often characterized by fast breakbeats with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, sampled sources, and synthesizers.

Jungle is a genre of electronic music derived from old school hardcore that developed in England in the early 1990s as part of rave music scenes. The style is characterized by fast tempos, relatively slow and lyrical reggae-derived basslines, breakbeats, and other heavily syncopated percussive loops, samples and synthesized effects make up the easily recognizable form of jungle.

Jump-up employs heavy and energetic drum and bass,characterized by robotic and heavy bass sounds. It also is generally less serious and contains more humor than other subgenres.
