Academy Events and Quality Control bring one of New Orleans’ most celebrated exports, The Hot 8 Brass Band to Sheffield!

The Hot 8’s sound first made its way to these shores through their cover of the Marvin Gaye classic ‘Sexual Healing’ (Watch the live version here: https://youtu.be/HJxyqFisFdY ) via Tru-Thoughts Records’ Quantic. They were quickly signed to the label, joining such revered artists as Quantic Soul Orchestra, Bonobo, Alice Russell, Omar and Belleruche.

This year they release the album 'Vicennial' Marking 20 Years of The Hot 8 Brass Band.

Hot 8 band leader Bennie “Big Peter” Pete sums up what their music means to them and the wider world: “Hot 8 music is feel good music…music with a message. It’s life music.”
