Lire la suite >> Sitting next to the historical Edinburgh Gardens, the Fitzroy Victoria Bowling & Sports Club has experienced a renaissance in recent years both as a part of the local community and as a bowling club. The "new" Club, formed in 2000, is an amalgamation of the Fitzroy Bowling Club (formed 1877), the Victoria Bowling Club (formed 1876) and the Edinburgh Park Ladies Club (formed in 1947). The club is a hub for barefoot bowlers for many social occasions such as birthdays, hens and bucks nights, as a wedding reception or for corporate get togethers. It is not uncommon to see people in all sorts of fancy dress either. Since the amalgamation the club has not looked back and now fields 5 Pennant teams, has 2 synthetic greens and facilities that are the envy of many. The club is open 7 days a week and, with facilities and the greens for hire for both corporate and social events, it is a hive of activity most days and nights. The bowling club is in the City of Yarra council's Edinburgh Gardens Sporting precinct.
