Soirée: Burns + DJ Ikon

Temple Saturdays presents Burns and DJ Ikon on August 13th, 2016.

About Burns

B U R N S was born in Glasgow, Scotland on Halloween in 1985. Growing up, watching both parents work hard made a deep impression on BURNS and gave him an appreciation for both beauty and power, a combination that shows through in his own work and in his love of melody and of sonic impact.
At age twelve, he began playing guitar and keyboards which led him to discovering sampling as a teenager. He listened to his mother's collection of disco albums and became a fan of acts like D Train, Chic and Donna Summer and producers such as George Duke, Dexter Wansel and Quincy Jones. His love of disco was complemented by his dad's love of Fleetwood Mac, 10CC, The Korgis and Supertramp. BURNS inherited musical interests evolved as he became aware of the French electronic producers of the mid- nineties with the emergence of labels such as Crydamoure, Vulure and Roule and artists like Daft Punk, Cassius and Le Knight Club revolutionising the music scene. As he listened, BURNS consciously studied the records becoming determined to lift his own production skills.
At the age of 15 BURNS had started producing his own tracks. Combining sound hardware from the seventies and eighties with modern music software and samples, B U R N S started to produce hundreds of demos, experimenting as he began to define his signature sound.
Burns was taken on by Three Six Zero Group and signed to Sony Music Entertainment. He was then chosen to open Deadmau5's U.S. 30 day tour and subsequently joined Calvin Harris on his UK tour. He also released two EPs “Turbo” and “Teknique” on 2112 Records.
In 2010, Burns released "Y.S.L.M (You Stopped Loving Me)" with French artist Fred Falke, also releasing his “So Many Nights EP.” In 2011, Burns released a track with NT89 entitled "Traffic" and went on to release "Iced Out" on Calvin Harris' Fly Eye label. In 2012, Burns secured a residency at The Wynn Hotel, Las Vegas while playing shows across America. He released "Lies" in September with remixes from Skream, Tiga, Acrobat and Otto Knows. The single entered the BBC Radio 1 playlist at C moving to B one week later and then on to A for 7 consecutive weeks. The track peaked at number 32 in the UK Singles Chart[4] and at number 36 in the Netherlands.
For the past decade, North America has known IKON as one of its most successful musicians. As an artist, DJ and producer, IKON has experienced countless highlights and milestones over the course of his distinguished career including having received several industry awards including Best Vegas Main Room DJ 2013, Remix Club DJ of the Year, Las Vegas Top 30 Under 30, and is the two time recipient of the Bar and Nightclub DJ of the Year nomination.

About IKON

IKON presently resides in Las Vegas performing several gigs a week and producing several original and remix tracks per month. IKON’s philosophy is to make people dance and party as hard as he plays. When he isn’t performing or producing, IKON spends time building out FeatureLV, a prominent sneaker boutique in Las Vegas frequented by big-name artists including Alesso, Taboo, Afrojack, 3LAU, and Diplo.
IKON’s initial production success occurred with his hit track, “Shadow of the Sun,” featuring Sisely Treasure of Shiny Toy Guns. The track hit No. 20 on Billboard and a million views on YouTube and Vevo shorty after. That initial success led IKON to work with Dave Aude and Akon on the hit “Electricity and Drums” which hit #1 on Billboard.
