Soirée: 7th Annual Charleston Jazz Jam

This year’s Jazz Jam is a Benefit for Charleston’s only locally owned, community based non-profit radio station Ohm Radio 96.3 FM. Featuring numerous special guests throughout the evening, the 7th Annual Jazz Jam will include four hours of unscripted, unrehearsed jazz that is free to the public. Lee Barbour will emcee this year’s event and has put together a group of some of Charleston’s best musicians to start the show with Gerald Gregory on keyboards, Jake Holwegner on bass, Asa Holgate on drums, Simon Harding on saxophone, Barbour on guitar and jazz vocalists Heather Rice, Bobbie Storm and Bobby Alvarez. Charleston’s Bossa Nova king, Duda Lucena will also be making his annual appearance.

“This year’s event is a celebration of music and life in Charleston,” says Fassuliotis, “We’ve been blessed to call this wonderful area home. With so many people moving to our area, we want to introduce as many people as we can to jazz, a musical genre with Charleston roots and the many great musicians that call this home and visit. Wherever we go from here the music will follow.”

There is no admission fee for the Jazz Jam but attendees are encouraged to join with the musicians to help financially support Charleston’s community-based Ohm Radio.
