Soirée: Moondog Live

Blues, Funk, Soul, Hip Hop, Fusion.
Master of the blues harmonica and a formidable guitarist, singer and song writer.

Hailing from Denmark, Western Australia, Moondog J performs solo or as front man of the Moondog J Blues Band.

His voice holds a deep authenticity reminiscent of the great Blues/Soul singers of old. Moondog J has traveled extensively to United States since 2009 to explore areas where the Blues began (Chicago IL, St Louis MS, Memphis TN, Mississippi State, New Orleans L.A).

His talent to jam/improvise with other Blues players has seen him perform with some of the “Who’s Who” of today’s Blues music scene – Billy Branch (Chicago, IL), Ronnie Baker Brookes (Chicago, IL), Toronzo Cannon (Chicago, IL), Mz Peachez & her Casanovas (Chicago, IL), Darryl Jones (Bass player for the Rolling Stones), Kim Massie (St Louis, MO), David Kimbrough Jnr (Holly springs, Mississippi), Big Dave and the Evil Love band (Clarksdale, Mississippi), Mojo Possum (Memphis, TN), Daddy Mack Blues Band (Memphis TN), Boy Blues Band (Chiang Mai, Thailand), Chai Blues (Chiang Mai Thailand), Kyla Brox (Manchester, U.K)

Moondog J has performed on stage at the Chicago Blues Festival, Buddy Guy’s Legend’s Bar, Byron Bay Bluesfest, Southbound Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Chiang Mai University (Thailand), as well as some of the premier venues in Australia (Perth Entertainment Centre, Melbourne Recital Centre, Brisbane Powerhouse).

Moondog J is also heavily involved in the Oz Hip Hop scene as “Hookman” for Perth Trio Optamus featuring: Optamus (from Downsyde) on Beats & Rhymes, Chris ‘Imposta’ Foster on Keys and Moondog J on Vocals, Guitar and Harmonica.

Aside from performing he also has 8 years experience running performance workshops for young people in schools and community centers throughout Western Australia.
