Amelia Curran is an outstanding singer/songwriter from Newfoundland, Canada. She is widely regarded as the best contemporary female singer/songwriter, currently working in Canada and has been described as the Heir to the Canadian Songwriting throne of Leonard Cohen. In fact, the Canadian Newspaper, The National Post describes her music as "a bit like Leonard Cohen being channeled in a dusty saloon by Patsy Cline."
Amelia Curran was the winner in 2010 of a Juno Award (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy) in the category of Roots and Traditional Album of the Year for her CD entitled "Hunter Hunter". She also won first prize in the Folk category of the prestigious Fifteenth Annual USA Songwriting Competition.
With the release of Spectators in 2012, Amelia was once again nominated for a Juno Award for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year. The record received rave reviews and found its way on to many Best of 2012 lists across Canada.
The newest collection of songs by Amelia Curran, entitled "They Promised You Mercy" was released on Six Shooter Records in November 2014. She has an extensive tour of the UK, Ireland and Europe in January, February and March 2015 to promote the release.
