Itinerary

Day 1 Friday 17th July, 2015 - Perth to Pemberton

We begin our weekend early Friday afternoon at 1.00pm, as we drive south towards our destination for the weekend, located within the beautiful forested area of Pemberton.

Prior to reaching our accommodation, we take the opportunity to stop in at one of the wineries en-route and enjoy sampling some of the local wines of the region.

We then have a short drive to our accommodation, where you can settle in and relax, while your guides prepare the evening meal.

Day 2 Saturday 19th July, 2015 - Seven Day Road to Beedelup Falls (12.8k)

Today’s walk introduces you to the beautiful, lush Karri Forest, where you’ll discover towering Karri’s and Marri’s, abundant wildflowers, lots of birdlife including blue wrens, black cockatoo’s and kookaburra’s ...and maybe the odd emu or two!! While the track is relatively soft underfoot in most areas of today, you’ll encounter a few ups and downs which may be challenging, all the while being rewarded by beautiful scenery, babbling brooks, lakes and waterfalls.

The walk ends at Beedelup Falls, where you have time to explore the cascading waterfalls, take a walk over the suspension bridge and soak in the stunning views of the area, before the bus arrives to take you back to the accommodation. Your guides will prepare the evening meal, while you kick back and relax, or take some time to explore the native gardens, farmland and forest surrounding our accommodation. Another evening of good food, good wine, good company and relaxation.

Day 3 Sunday 19th July, 2015 - Beedelup Falls to Big Brook Arboretum (15.9k)

A slightly longer walk today, as we leave Beedelup Falls and gradually ascend to reach farmland near the edge of the Beedelup National Park, stopping en-route to explore the Beedelup Brook and Campsite, nestled in amongst the Karri Trees.

From here the walking becomes easier, as the trail begins to descend gradually across private farmland, where you may spot a few grazing cows, before continuing on through some fine Karri and blackbutt stands, wildflowers, and dense underlying forest. Birdlife is abundant once again and it’s likely that Rosella’s will begin to appear towards the end of this day.

The final stage of today’s walk, you will enter the Big Brook Arboretum, where you’ll see a variety of Australian and exotic tree species, including the giant sequoia and redwoods from California. It is here that the bus will meet the group and drive to nearby Big Brook Dam, where you’ll all be able to use the facilities, enjoy a swim ‘weather permitting’ and explore the area, before returning back to the accommodation to enjoy another evening of wining, dining and relaxation!

Day 4 Monday 20th July, 2015 - Big Brook Arboretum to Pemberton (9.4k)

Today’s walk is a shorter day, begins at the Arboretum and continues onwards around the southern shore of Big Brook Dam where you can enjoy beautiful views across to the northern side of the dam to the main picnic / beach area. As you walk on to Pemberton from the dam, you will enjoy the sounds of Lefroy Brook babbling away beside you, often coming into view. Again.. a visual feast with beautiful Karri and Marri trees, wildflowers, birdlife (The Rosella’s become more prolific in this area) and water courses.

As you approach Pemberton, you pass by the town dam/swimming pool where you can take a dip if it’s a warm day if you wish, wander down the main street exploring, or just continue on to our meeting point for the day ‘The Millhouse Cafe’ where you can relax and grab a cuppa. We’ll spend some time at this lovely Cafe until we regroup, before heading off to check out the Gloucester Tree. Those who are feeling adventurous and wish to climb the tree can do so, then from here we begin our journey back to Perth, arriving around 6pm.
